37 Presidio Ave, Presidio Heights, Pt. 2

It is quite amazing, to me at least, how fairly small changes like shingling and paint can have an absolutely transformative effect on the look of a house.

The idea of sheathing a Federal style stucco box in shake shingling was bold and unusual, but it took this nearly 6,000 square foot house to another level of design sophistication.

Paint can have a dramatic effect too. In this instance, the dark trim color not only enhances the shake, but it also contemporizes some of the more traditional features of the house.

If you're a restoration hard ass this is nothing less than blasphemy!

I love it ❤︎
