The house was built (c. 1869) at the corner of Pacific and Gough for Rudolph Spreckels who had it moved west in 1900 to make way for his mansion.

The house was leased to Theodore + Eleanor Roosevelt at one time. Mrs Roosevelt wrote about the house in her book Day Before Yesterday : the Reminiscences of Mrs. Theodore Roosevelt, Jr (Doubleday, 1959).

Renovated Mission Dolores Victorian flat comes with a Nordic twist (Curbed)

Exterior Description City Record (2006): Built in 1908, 1983 15th Street is a 3.5 story, wood frame, multiple family building containing 2 flats designed in the Classical Revival style.

The rectangular-plan building, clad in flush wood siding, is capped by a gable roof. The primary façade faces north and is 2 bays wide.

The ground floor features an integral garage and basement entry in the left bay and concrete steps in the right bay leading to the main entry on the second story The entry is sheltered by an integral entry porch with metal, security gate and portico.

The portico has robust turned posts with brackets on paneled parapet walls supporting an entablature with decorative wood screen and dentil cornice.

The left bay contains a chamfered bay window with paneled spandrels and intermediary dentil cornice on the second and third stories. An identical but smaller bay window is set in the right bay on the third story.

The pedimented half story is divided from the lower stories by an entablature with dentil and modillion cornice. The half story has a centered pair of windows and a sunburst ornament in the gable peak, separated by a dentil cornice.

All windows have undivided, wood, double hung sash. A dentil cornice traces the inside perimeter of the gable roofline. The building appears to be in good condition
