16 Sea Cliff Avenue REMODEL

The recent history of 16 Sea Cliff Ave, a historically significant Classical Revival (c. 1916) begins with the 2016 death of the longtime owner followed by early renovation photos that include a 2021 shot that clearly shows a down-to-studs renovation.

Permit language is also included along with the architectural plans that show the extent of the gut renovations. Lastly and probably the only saving grace for this house is the fact that the window trim is being restored using an old assessor's photo as a guide.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention the fact that the house is being doubled in size from 4000 to over 8000 square feet.

Nancy Patricia Crowell Ferdon Obituary (deceased owner)

1925-2016

Nancy passed away in her home of 57 years on the night of July 24 after a brief illness. Nancy had lived with short term memory loss for many years, which she managed with exceptional intelligence, good humor and pluck! Ever joyful and passionately interested in others, she remained so until her very last days.

Nancy was born in San Francisco on November 3, 1925, and was the loving daughter and only child of Ila Marie Crowell and William Henry Crowell. In 1955, she married John Jay Ferdon. Jix, as she called him, died in 1994. Nancy lived in the Richmond District of San Francisco for almost her entire life. She attended St. Monica's Elementary School, St. Rose Academy, and graduated from Dominican College in San Rafael. She went on to earn a Masters Degree in Social Work at the University of California, Berkeley. After graduate school, Nancy worked in the U.S. Veteran's Hospital at Fort Miley. She continued her long career in social work for Catholic Social Services, and then for the San Francisco Department of Family and Children's Services. Nancy retired 25 years ago, and spent the remaining years of her life as a brilliant, fun-loving grandmother.
