Ernest Coxhead designed Jacobean/Georgian style mansion has sold after only 2 weeks on the market. Listed at $7.9 million, the property sold for a mind-numbing $11 million - that's 3.1 million over asking.

6,810 square foot 5 bedroom 5 bath (plus 2 half baths) brick and stone manse built in 1895. Designed by architect Ernest Coxhead in an unusual combination of the Jacobean and Georgian styles. A Tudor style edition was added in 1929.

Ideally located across from Alta Plaza Park, this residence has iconic Bay views to the north. Interior details include extensive millwork, leaded glass windows, elaborate relief carvings, and period lighting. According to the San Francisco Architectural Survey the SANDSTONE ENTRY FRAME HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH MODERN MATERIALS (1986) AND A GARAGE HAS BEEN ADDED (1997).

The house is mentioned in 'Here Today, San Francisco's Architectural Heritage' wherein it states that the first owner Irving Murray Scott, a pioneer design engineer, commissioned Coxhead to design this residence upon the marriage of his daughter. This mansion was one of the first in San Francisco to be wired for electric light.
