201 Buchanan St, Hayes Valley

The Nightingale House is a landmarked 3,224 square foot 4 bedroom 3 bath JOHN MARQUIS designed Eastlake Victorian + studio addition built in 1882 (per City records). Last sold for $1.575 million in 2010.

c. 1975
Current estimates value the property at about $3.7 million. The interior definitely needs work, but certainly looks livable as is. Is that linoleum in the bathrooms??

A permit review revealed that the kitchen was remodeled in 2014 with no structural changes. No other major renovations other than a sunroom addition in 2017. Numerous structural repairs have been made including a 2014 partial foundation replacement.

The Nightingale House is a masterpiece of the Eastlake Style which also incorporates elements of the Carpenter Gothic, Second Empire and late Italian Villa styles. Specifically, its low-high-low rhythm is accentuated by strongly-marked vertical elements which provide striking contrast against the generally horizontal appearance of the building. (Noe Hill)
